Amapá Marks New Era for Digital Economy with Global Digital Economy Alliance
Under the leadership of Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, a momentous signing ceremony took place in the State of Amapá, Brazil, signifying a major milestone in the region's development. The event marked the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the World Esports Consortium (WESCO), the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC), and the State of Amapá, represented by Senator Randolfe Rodrigues.
“This is an important step for Amapá, positioning our state on the global map of technological innovation and digital economy,” stated Senator Randolfe Rodrigues. “By bringing the Global Digital Economy Alliance Expo and Forum to our region, we are not only opening doors to global businesses, but also creating new opportunities for our local economy, particularly in job creation and education.”
This strategic agreement sets the stage for Amapá to host the prestigious Global Digital Economy Alliance Expo and Forum, organized by WESCO and CECC. This landmark event aims to bring hundreds of Chinese companies at the forefront of innovation and technology across various sectors to the state.
Dr. Daniel Cossi, CEO and Chairman of WESCO, emphasized the importance of this partnership for the digital future of Amapá: “This MOU signals the beginning of a dynamic new chapter for Amapá, where innovation, esports, and digital technologies will converge, providing a platform for local businesses to thrive alongside global giants. The Global Digital Economy Alliance will create new horizons not just for Brazil, but for the entire digital ecosystem in Latin America.”
The Global Digital Economy Alliance initiative has a remarkable origin, stemming from the Paris Peace Forum in France. The initiative, titled "Global Digital Economy Alliance (50)," was proposed by the CECC and the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). It made history by standing out from nearly 900 global projects, being selected as one of the key global governance programs in both 2018 and 2019. Since its inception, the Alliance has garnered the participation of over 50 business associations and enterprises, fostering international cooperation in the digital economy sector.
Kenneth Chang, Vice President of CECC, highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “China has long been a leader in innovation and the digital economy, and through this partnership with WESCO and Amapá, we aim to foster deeper ties and collaboration. We are bringing together our best technologies and businesses to contribute to the growth of Amapá’s economy and the digital future of Brazil.”
The agreement aims to position Amapá as a key player in the global digital economy landscape, providing unprecedented opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs, while strengthening ties between Brazil and China.
With this signing, the State of Amapá is set to become a major hub for innovation, driving digital transformation and creating a dynamic space for international collaboration and growth.
